Inventive, evocative guitar riffs were George Harrison's specialty, but he also wrote memorable lyrics.
"Life goes on within you and without you," from Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and the line that titled his first post-Beatles album, All Things Must Pass, apply to the theaters that came and went in Janesville and the people who frequented them.

As I get up in years, I think about doing things one final time.
Buying my last ticket to a movie at the Jeffris, Myers, Hi-Way 26, or Mid-City, leaving through a side door with a buzzer sounding or driving down an exit road, WLS on the radio, never to return.
The significance of these concluding actions was missed by me.
There was no "so long," "farewell," "it was nice knowing you." No appreciation of now becoming then. No thought of glancing back and reminiscing...
Now, scores of years later, I'm more aware of impermanence.
